TEKO MODISE

From the microphone of Rocky Evans.

So the former Orlando Pirates dynamo has a new lease on life.

"There was no problem between myself and the coach at Pirates" he was heard saying to Robbie Marawa. But still he was an almost absent influence for the Bucaneers this season with only 6 starts in 24 league and cup outings. The exception - a Man of the Match appearance aganst the Dube Birds. His last appearance was on 22 December against the Tycoons in the PSL, the day he celebrated his 28th birthday.

What a turnaround from a player who was on top of his game in the Confederations Cup. But wasn't that 19 months ago. That said, Modise does possess a good footballing brain and at his best can wow the fans with his skill.

There does appear to be a gap for the lad at Sundowns, who although having a squad of talented players (and plenty of them) still have options for Modise from the right. There is competition from another former Supersport United export in Elias Pelebe who himself is a little short of gametime this season and it will be interesting if coach Lopez will give Modise a run against Platinum Stars (the side he last appeared against in a Bucs jersey) on Sunday.

If Teko is able to put his recent troubles behind him, he can resurrect his career and perhaps even convince one of his biggest supporters, Pitso Mosimane, that national honours would not be wasted on him. The soccer fraternity will be watching with interest.

Time will tell and those of you who already know what jersey number Teko will be playing in - 8ta Teko.

CAF Supercup

From the microphone of Rocky Evans.  It has been a great last 24 months for TP Mazembe of the DR Congo. Two CAF Champions League titles, Supercup win over Stade Malien of Mali last year and their impressive performance in the FIFA world Club Cup in December last year, being the 1st African side to make the final.

Well the Ravens will be in action again on Saturday afternoon to see if they can repeat their Supercup success from last season. Their opponents - FUS Rabat, one of 5 Moroccan teams to have won the CAF Confederations Cup.

COMMENTATOR SEARCH

From the microphone of Rocky Evans

Today a new chapter begins in the history of soccer commentating in South Africa with Supersport searching for commentator for live PSL matches.

With auditions starting today in Cape Town ( for the next 3 days) and going on to Bloemfontein, Durban, Johannesburg and Pretoria, interest should be high for this prestigious position.

Initially 12 contestants will be chosen from the participants. This will be whittled down to 6 and then just 2 on live television shows with the public having the chance to vote as well. With the results set to be released as early as 27 March this year, the pressure is on the contestants and the judging panel.

COME FROM BEHIND RESULTS IN PSL

From the microphone of Rocky Evans.  What a week it's been in the Absa Premiership.

Not only because it produced the 2nd highest amont of goals this season, but the number of teams that showed character by coming from behind to grab a points or points.

It all started on Saturday in Cape Town when newcomers Vasco appeared all set for their first win of 2011, then Chivuta grabbed a late equaliser for Free State Stars.

Worse was to come for Bidvest Wits. Leading 2 - 0 before half an hour had passed, Pirates staged a 2nd half comeback of note, along with inspired substitutions, to snatch victory and go top of the table!!!

Kaizer Chiefs ventured into the cauldron of Seisa Ramabodou Stadium and were down 2 - 0 after just 13 minutes. But the Amakhozi weren't done and again a 2nd half resurgence showed their pedigree, as Ncanana and Musona scored to grab a valuable away point.

And defending champions Supersport United suffered a similar fate to Wits as they crashed to bottom side Witbank Aces giving Paul Dolezar his 1st win at the club. Henyekane's own goal putting Supersport in front. But Aces showed character with Mathebula's equaliser 3 minutes later and Ngweya grabbed his 1st for the club in the dying moments to snatch just the 2nd 3 point haul for Aces this season.
